Who we are

Leading independent experts on pesticides in Europe

We are a science-based organisation with highly motivated toxicologists, legal experts and campaigners. Our analyses, reports and court cases influence EU policies and help to protect health and biodiversity. Together with our members in all EU countries we work to eliminate the dependency on pesticides and promote alternatives that work with instead of fight against nature.

Protect health and environment

We aim to truly protect health and environment. Special attention goes to farmers, workers and residents of agricultural areas and especially children, who are the first victims of toxic pesticides. Currently we are not properly protected against the direct and chronic effect of pesticides. The law is clear, but the implementation, the guidelines and agencies that should protect health and biodiversity are riddled with the influences of the pesticide industry. The precautionary principle should be leading, it is the foundation of the EU pesticide law.

Sustainable agriculture - healthy soils, clean water, healthy food

We support agroecological farming methods aiming to prevent rather than kill pests. If needed safe and sustainable control methods can be used. This will boost foodsecurity. Healthy soil, clean water, abundance in pollinators and natural balance are the fundamentals of sustainable agriculture. Depletion of soils, pollution of water and the eradication of life by pesticides is a dead end road. We can do much better and move towards a sustainable era. High agricultural productivity of healthy food is a reality on many sustainable farms worldwide. We advocate to free farmers from their dependency on the agrochemicals industry that destroys their health and livelihood.

European and wordwide network

We are the European branch of the International Pesticide Action Network, active in 60 countries worldwide. Together we work to minimise the negative effects of hazardous pesticides and to replace their use with ecologically sound and socially just alternatives. PAN Europe brings together more than 50 consumer, public health and environmental organisations, trades unions, women's groups and farmer associations from across Europe.
