Call for a strong pesticide regulation and nature restoration law to protect people’s health, the environment and long-term food security

Dear members of the European Parliament's AGRI Committee,

Request for a meeting on New Genomic Techniques: Time to shift to evidence-based decision making for sustainable food systems and nature

Dear Executive Vice-President,

As Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal we, the undersigned 300+ organisations, call on you to intervene and prevent the far-reaching deregulation of new genomic techniques at the expense of nature and the climate, and of farmers’ and consumers’ rights. We note with great concern that arguments in favour of deregulating new genomic techniques (NGTs) are often put forward without relevant evidence by DG Sante, especially when it comes to sustainability claims.

Negative effects on biodiversity not taken into account (Part 2)

Dear Mr. Url,

On March 8, 2023 we wrote a letter to you asking to take into account indirect effects of pesticides. On May2, 2023 we received your reply that to our feeling fails to address our concerns and arguments.

Read the EFSA reply.

Misleading information on the alternatives for candidates for substitution

Dear Ms. Health Commissioner Kyriakides,

April 2023

Call for a swift ban of the active substance s-metolachlor

Dear Commissioner Kyriakides,

March 2023

Request to suspend the approval’s discussions on the herbicide Asulam sodium until EFSA’s assessment protocol is aligned with regulation and science

Dear Commissioner Kyriakides,

We would like to ask you to employ your political leadership to ensure the Commission does not give in to current pressure to see approved a pesticide’s substance found harmful to human health (so-called “cut off substances”). As things stand, this approval would run against Regulation (EU) 1107/2009, Directive (EU) 2009/128, and the EU political commitments made in the context of the EU Green Deal.

March 2023

Negative effects on biodiversity not taken into account (Part 1)

Dear Mr. Url,

With this letter we like to make you aware of new research[1] that  demonstrates that pesticides are widely present in feed for dairy cows and that a number of these pesticides are transferred to manure.

March 2023

Stop blocking the SUR and enter into constructive negotiations!

Dear Chairman of the AGRI Committee, Norbert Lins,
