On the urgent need to adopt the EU Soil Monitoring Law
As we approach the final crucial step in the adoption of the Soil Monitoring Law, the European Parliament’s votes on the deal, 51 civil society organisations highlight the urgent need to adopt this law to finally enable EU Member States to address the crisis of soil degradation in Europe. With the Council’s approval of the deal on 29 September, we call on the European Parliament to act as a responsible co-legislator, and seal the deal.

We, the undersigned organisations of the End Toxic Pesticide Trade Coalition, are writing to you once again to reiterate our call for the European Commission to fulfil its commitments and take decisive action to stop the production and exports of pesticides that are banned in the EU. PAN Europe is writing to you ahead of the interinstitutional technical meeting on 15 September 2025, to urge the incorporation of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) into the “sum of 24 PFAS” Environmental Quality Standards (EQS) for surface water and groundwater, as explicitly recommended by the Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks (SCHEER).
