Cette année 2024 coïncide avec la période d’évaluation par les Etats membres, dont la Belgique, des demandes de renouvellement des produits phytopharmaceutiques à base de glyphosate (ci-après dénommés « GBH »), à la suite de la ré-approbation de la substance active par la Commission européenne (ci-après « CE »), en décembre dernier, malgré l’absence de majorité qualifiée en comité d’appel.

We have noted with great interest the plans to update the State-of-the-Science Report on EDCs, based on UNEA Resolution 5/7. This update will be much welcomed as scientific knowledge on endocrine disruptors (EDs) continues to grow and evolve, and regulatory agencies need up-to-date science to eUectively protect citizens and the environment from their harmful eUects.

Information from the press indicates that the European Commission is considering moving the competency over pesticide files and responsibilities from DG SANTE to another DG. We, the undersigned organisations working to protect citizens and biodiversity from the harmful effects of pesticides, would like to express our serious concern regarding these media reports.

PAN Europe is writing to you to urge EFSA to support the identification of flufenacet as an endocrine-disrupting (ED) substance and complete its peer review. This swift action is required to comply with the hazard-based approach of the EU Pesticide Regulation (1107/2009) and ensure a high level of protection for EU citizens, wildlife and our water resources from flufenacet.

On behalf of the European Citizens' Initiative "Save Bees and Farmers!", we are writing to express our support for a robust "Strategic Agenda 2024-2029” that successfully addresses key issues that relate to universal human rights, including that to food, health as well as to a safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment. With this letter we would like to bring to your attention some key issues to further strengthen the current draft.
